Not all payments can be cancelled after they've been initiated, but we'll always help where ever we can! See below for your best options for cancelling a payment or blocking a merchant.

Cancelling a payment

Payment type

Cancellation options

Outgoing ACH transfer

The window of time to cancel an outgoing ACH transfer is small, so reach out to our customer care team as soon as you can. We'll need:

  • The amount of the payment

  • The name of the recipient

  • The reason for the cancellation request

If we can, we'll cancel it before it goes out.

Sending a Domestic Wire

Before a wire transfer can be fully sent we need to receive the wire code via chat.¹ If we don't receive the code by the following business day, the wire will automatically be reversed back into your Account.

If you'd like the funds returned sooner, just reach out to our customer care team and provide the following:

  • The amount of the payment

  • The name of the recipient

  • The reason for the cancellation request

If the wire has already been fully processed, we are not able to reverse it.

Card transaction

The funds from a card transaction are held by the merchant, meaning we can't reverse it once it's been authorized. If you want to cancel a pending payment, or request a refund on a completed payment, your best option would be to reach out to the merchant.

If necessary, North One can file a dispute on your behalf.²

Mobile Check Deposit

A check deposit can be cancelled at any point during the review period. Just reach out to our customer care team and let us know:

  • The amount of the check

  • The reason for the cancellation request

Once the check has been reviewed and approved, we are not able to cancel the pending deposit.

Physical check payment

A check sent out from your North One Account can be cancelled at any time prior to being deposited by the recipient. All you need to do is reach out to our customer care team with the following information:

  • The amount of the check

  • The name of the recipient

  • The reason for the cancellation request

Once a check has been deposited, we are not able to cancel it or recall the

funds.

Not sure if you're still able to cancel a payment? No problem! Feel free to reach out to us and we'll take a look and figure out the best option for you.

Reminder: When reaching out through chat regarding Account specific details (such as transfer information) you must be logged in. We are not able to accept a transfer cancellation request through email.

Blocking a merchant

If you're expecting a pull from a merchant, or if you're signed up for a recurring payment that you aren't able to cancel, we may be able to block the merchant from making further transactions from your Account.³ Merchants can be blocked from both card transactions and ACH debit pulls.

We cannot guarantee that we will be able to block every merchant, but we will do our best to protect your funds where possible. Just reach out to our customer care team with the following information:

  • The name of the merchant

  • The reason for the block request

  • The date of the next expected charge

  • Detailed information on the reason for the block

The block will be in place in perpetuity, but if at any point you found the block was requested in error and would like it removed, please do not hesitate to reach out and we can review the request.

² Before reaching out about a dispute, please review the process and information in this article.

³ We cannot guarantee that all future transactions will be blocked, as this is based on how the merchant runs the transaction. Please refer to our Deposit Account Agreement, specifically section C. Transactions on the Account, and section 10. Stop Payment.
